One of the first 3.0 events of 2021 takes place at one of the most historically significant tennis mecca's in all of Northeast Ohio! The Towpath Tennis Center will play host to the first one-day 3.0 doubles tournament event of the 2021 tour* (which is sorta a thing but mostly not)!
So what is the format? Who is playing? And who will win?! FIND OUT HERE!

Format
Limited to eight doubles teams, six are registered to compete in a first to five scoring format, in which the draw shall be a Round Robin. And where is that 3.0 Round Robinhood arrow pointing? Toward ... WINNING!
As this is the first ever winter Towpath Adult 3.0 Doubles Tournament ever, this will no doubt go down in history ... as the one-time in 3.0 history that enough 3.0ers signed up and paid the entry fee! That's right! While there have been previous summer singles events (i.e., the Akron Open Shootouts) and previous summer doubles events (i.e., the 2020 Akron Open), there has never been a winter doubles event. HISTORY IS BEING MADE RIGHT BEFORE OUR EYES, making this, quite literally, the most important event of 2021.
Literally.
Team Profiles
Robert Corts & Robert Rosenau...
Records: 6-7 all-time ... TennisRecord.Com Ratings: 2.90 + 2.94 = 5.84! ... Tournament Experience/Highlights: Robert won the biggest doubles event of the 2020 season in their sole outing, taking home the 2020 Akron Open Doubles Championships (5-0) ... Pros: The odds on favorites, the Two Roberts have extensive experience together playing in well over 10 tandem matches ... Most experienced tandem in the event, they know each other's games inside and out ... Robert's defensive play from the backcourt and Robert's aggressive play at the net make them the nigh-perfect tandem! ... Cons: As the number one seed in the event, will they be able to handle the pre-match hype, paparazzi, and super star trappings that so many big-time 3.0ers fall prey towards?!
David Gann & Travis Haselswerdt ...
Records: 4-1 all-time, 4-1 in tournament play, 0-0 in league play ... TennisRecord.Com Ratings: 2.76 + 3.00 = 5.76 ... Tournament Experience/Highlights: One event, finishing as 2020 Akron Open Doubles Vice-Champions (i.e., Runner's Up) ... Pros: David's power, wing-span, and good humor ... Cons: The psychological trauma of falling convincingly to Robert and Debabrata last summer on these very courts no doubt leaves emotional scarring that will be difficult to overcome...
Debabrata Ghosh & Ben Zagorski ...
Records: 9-1 all-time ... TennisRecord.Com Ratings: 3.0S + 2.83 = 5.83 ... Tournament Experience/Highlights: None, first event ... Pros: These two veteran warriors of the 3.0 doubles courts have teamed up to the best winning record of any of the event entries, showing they have the winning pedigree necessary to hoist the pretend Akron trophy when the day is done! ... Doubles specialists, these two bring extensive doubles knowledge to the biggest one-day doubles event on the 3.0 tournament schedule ... Cons: As this is their first ever tournament, will the INCREDIBLE PRESSURE of 3.0 tournament play get to them?!
William Farr & Scott Nelson ... Records: 0-0 all-time ... TennisRecord.Com Ratings: 2.76 + 2.58 = 5.34 ... Tournament Experience/Highlights: None, first event ... Pros: This tag-team may be entering their first official event as partners, but William, a captain of many a Paramount Medina team, and Scott a player on many a Paramount Medina team, no doubt enjoy a level of captain-to-player communication that will give them many advantages when it comes to play on the court! ... Both are long-time doubles players, with Scott enjoying much success on the mixed circuit while William's 200+ matches give him the most on court experience of any participant in the event ... as members of the same club, their tennis bonds are strong, and as such, their communication is - wait for it - Paramount ... Cons: Will the captain-to-player, teacher-to-student interplay prove to be a strength or will the student, like a willful teenager, desire to break free from the bonds of parental tennis servitude?!
John Gambol & Clay Rexrode... Records: 0-6 all-time ... TennisRecord.Com Ratings: 2.5S + 2.5S = 5.0 ... Doubles Tournament Experience/Highlights: Second event entered, they finished 5th at the 2020 Akron Open ... Pros: As both John and Clay play on the same USTA league team, and have joined forces almost more than any other team in this event, they no doubt have incredible amounts of knowledge and communication on the doubles courts, thus providing them a superior advantage when it comes to on-court communication ... home court advantage is definitely on their side, as their home club in league play, Towpath, just happens to be where this event is being hosted! ... John and Clay's well known hustle and leave-it-on-the-court mentality make them tough 3.0 acts to handle!
Abhijit Nath & Giju Oommen ... Records: 0-0 all-time ... TennisRecord.Com Ratings: 3.00 + 2.87 + 5.87 ... Tournament Experience/Highlights: None, first event ... Pros: Abhijit's tournament experience (having partaken in the summer rendition of this event in 2020) and Giju's 3.5 experience will no doubt make them one of the tougher tandems of this entire event ... Abhijit's offensive play is the perfect compliment to Giju's defensive all-court play ... Cons: As this is Giju's first tournament, will tournament stage fright play a role?! (hint: no)
