Champions: Ram Medapati/Sumit Patil (4-0)
Vice-Champion: Ashish Sharma/Sanket Shah (3-1)
Entries: 5
Notes: For the first time ever, the legendary Towpath held a February event, and for the first time ever, Ram and Sumit won the whole thing! Ram, backing up his NTRP 18+ Doubles Championship from the week prior, teamed with newbie Sumit to go undefeated on the day. In doing so Ram became one of only a handful of 3.0ers to claim TWO doubles tournament titles in one season! And he did it in dramatic fashion, beating the vice-champions by only two points head-to-head!
Participants: Ram/Sumit (4-0), Ashish/Sanket (3-1), Hasan/Dilshod (2-2), Diego/Jeff (1-3), Patrick/Noah (0-4)

The one-day event saw such notables as Nicholas and Benjamin, but when the 3.0 dust settled it was a 3.0 newbie, Todd, who took home the 3.0 glory!

Doubles (Summer)
Champion: Scott Hovey/Patrick Renz (3-0)
Consolation Champion: Robert Corts/Debabrata Ghosh d. Corey Morrill/Mark Robeson, 8-4
Entries: 8 (with 1 on standby!)
Notes: In the second most attended event in Akron Open history, first time doubles partners Scott and Patrick won their first ever 3.0 tournament event. Noted for being the second doubles event of the 2021 tour, the event was also notable in that 2020 Champions Corts and Ghosh won the Consolation bracket while 2020 Vice-Champions Gann and Haselswerdt took third.
Participants: Wasowski/Young 2-1, Gann/Haselswerdt 2-1, Birceanu/Crumpler 1-2, Corts/Ghosh 2-1, Morrill/Robeson 1-2, Bennhoff/Clark 1-2, Kessler/Soto 0-3
Singles Champion: Travis Haselswerdt (3-0)
Consolation Champion: None
Entries: 4
Notes: In the lowest attended Akron Open in Akron Open history, Travis became the first ever 3.0er to double-up their Akron Open Championship titles in an incredibly close contest of 3.0 ability. With a 7-5 victory over Benjamin and a 7-6 (10) victory over Erik, the veteran 3.0er slice and diced his way to what turned out to be the smallest trophy in Akron Open history as well. Special Note: Travis, now a two-time Akron Open champion, won both his titles in what turned out to be the lowest attended events in tournament history. Conincidence?! (Hint: no)
Participants: Benjamin Young (2-1), Erik Wasowski (1-2), Reneir Soto (0-3)

Champion: H. Michael Wiant d Aaron Reuen 10-7 ... 6-0, 5-1 Consolation Champion: None Entries: 10
Notes: Due to the pandemic, the Akron Open format was changed from a multi-day event to a one-day showdown! In the two brackets, H. Michael and Aaron both emerged victorious, going undefeated in a first to five format before H. Michael won the day in a first to 10 championship match. Besides being the first one-day event in Akron Open history, the tournament was notable for numerous other factors, including that both Aaron wasn't even from Ohio while H. Michael would later do an Akron first - win the 3.0 and 3.5 event! Moreover, Akron veterans Matt and Bob made their glorious returns to their legendary courts to add to their D.F.O. Hall of 3.0 Fame status!

Champion: Joshua Grischow d Travis Haselswerdt 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (8) ... 3-0, 3-1 Consolation Champion: Tommie Ford d Paul Papas 6-3, 6-0 ... 3-1, 2-2 Entries: 12
Notes: One of the most prolific 3.0 players of the last decade, Joshua made his final Akron Open 3.0 appearance one to remember as he earned his first ever Akron Open Championship in fantastic come-from-behind fashion, fighting back from 8-5 down in the deciding 3rd set to take home the well-earned title. Now a 3.5, Joshua ended his 3.0 career with an impressive 23-11 tournament singles mark and currently holds many 3.0 Akron Open records, including second all-time in appearances (tied-6), second all-time in wins (12), and third all-time in overall singles matches played (tied-17). Travis, trying to become the first ever 3.0 to repeat the 3.0 title, could take solace in the fact he not only blew a big lead, but that he also became the first 3.0 to repeat a finals appearance in back to back years, showing he may be a 3.0'er for life (though Josh would extend a tennis olive branch later in the year and team with Travis at the Paramount Fall Championships and lead Travis to title-town as the two won the 3.0 doubles event). Meanwhile, Paul, in his sixth showing at the event, now stands tied for second most appearances (6) and third most matches (17) all-time.

Notes: In a tournament that had the lowest number of entries ever recorded for this event, Travis took advantage of said low entries to earn his first ever title in winning the Akron Open Championship in three grueling sets versus doubles specialist and member of a National Runner up squad, Mel. Perhaps more impressive, and advancing his own record, Timothy extended his appearance record to an impressive eight, two more than second place.

Notes: The D.F.O. 3.0 Player of the Year backed up his resume as Mayu swept the competition en route to his single 3.0 title! All the more impressive is he defeated several players who would be promoted to 3.5 the very next season ... and some of which who were his teammates. OH THE DRAMA!

Singles Champion: Kevin Si d Kevin Le 6-2, 6-4 ...4-0, 3-1 Consolation Champion: Joshua Grischow d Levi Hall 7-5, 6-2 ... 3-1, 2-2 Entries: 18
Notes: Kevin, perhaps the youngest Akron Open 3.0 Champion of all-time, rolled through the tournament, dropping nary a set, en route to his first title in his first ever Akron Open appearance. Making his win all the more impressive is that he defeated renowned doubles specialist Kevin, who would soon move up to the 3.5 level on his own right. In the consolation bracket, long-time event veteran Joshua enjoyed his best finish to date, taking the Consolation title for the first time ... also in his first attempt! WOW! So many firsts! Speaking of firsts, future title holder but current rookie Travis failed to show up to his second round consolation match, showing that he had quite a ... well ... quite a journey ... to somewhere ... in front of him.
Participants: Trayton Crow 2-1, James Schulte 2-1, Mike Sherman 1-1, John Tomic 1-1, Trey Houk 2-1, Dominic Manning 1-1, Matthew Porter 1-1, Paul Papas 1-2, Erich Buehler 1-2, Sasa Savic 0-2, Michael Cuevas 0-2, Joseph Jackson 1-2, Gregory Bean 0-2, Travis Haselswerdt 0-2

Notes: Kevin Le enjoyed finals appearances in both the singles and the doubles, making him one of the few to ever accomplish said feat and showing that his all-around game was one for the ages! Kevin took home the doubles title in three hard fought sets while Kevin Si, who won the singles event, visited the championship courts in the doubles event as well, this time taking the Consolation title!
Participants: Bassak/Schulte 1-1 Akron Open Shootout
Champion: Joshua Grischow ... 3-0

Notes: John, who set the record for most singles wins in a single Akron Open with five, won the event in his second attempt, and ended his 3.0 tournament career with an impressive eight wins to but two defeats before moving up to the world of 3.5! His worthy opponent, Matt, the current record holder for overall singles finals appearances (5) repeated his championship finals appearance from 2014, tying Bob Shearer and Travis Haselswerdt for most championship finals appearances ever (2), and once again put on a grueling three set display before John took home a hard-fought championship.

Participants: Bean/Sherman 1-1, Chirayath/Le 1-1, Heffner/Vanaman 0-2, Fairfax/Schneider 0-2 Year: 2015
Singles Champion: John Ragner d Charles Graise 6-4, 6-3 ... 4-0, 3-1 Consolation Champion: Mel Paulino d Michael Cuevas (ns) ... 3-1, 1-2 Entries: 19
Notes: With 19 entries, the 2015 rendition of the Akron Open tied for the most ever entries, showing that the Akron Open was indeed the preeminent 3.0 event in all of Ohio! John won his first ever title in his first ever attempt en route to defeating a who's who of 3.0 stars who's names litter the Akron Open 3.0 record books. The event also saw Charles enjoyed a finalist finish before he'd head off to the 3.5 sunset and enjoy much success at that level!

Notes: The lowest entries in tournament history was made up for by the fact that for the first time ever, all players in the title match had names starting with "C" and for the first time ever, siblings battled versus siblings! Almost like a civil war, but on the courts of tennis rather than the fields of battle! HUZZAH! Year: 2014

Notes: In his only tournament appearance ever, Matthew enjoyed the perfect summer, going 4-0 and winning two three set matches to hoist the biggest 3.0 trophy ever, the Akron Open title! Matt, no stranger to the championship courts, made his first trip to the Championship finals, just narrowly falling in the final match in what has become his calling card - an epic three setter.

Notes: Notable for 3.0 all-star Matt's first title win as well as Tim Lastoria repeating his runner-up status from 2013, this event tied the record for second fewest entries in Akron Open 3.0 history (4).
Year: 2013 Singles Champion: Joshua Magleby d Timothy Benedict 7-5, 6-3 ... 3-0, 3-1 Consolation Champion: Vishnu Chandran d Matt Birkbeck 6-1, 6-1 ... 4-1, 2-2 Entries: 19
Notes: With 19 participants, the 2013 Akron Open was the largest to date! In his only 3.0 tournament before moving up to the vaunted 3.5 level, Joshua made it count, taking home the title before moving on to 3.5 status, where he's enjoyed much doubles success. Long-time, 3.0 veteran Timothy, meanwhile, made another appearance to the championship courts while Matt did the same, once again showing that the two veteran players knew their way around the Akron championship courts!

Notes: With 16 entries, the 2012 Akron Open hosted the most participants heretofore in event history, making Kuo-Ping's run all the more impressive. Indeed, Kuo-Ping, one of the most decorated 3.0 stars in the history of the event, has won eight titles, championship or consolation, in the 11 championship events he has played during his 3.0 tenure, and in his final 3.0 tournament, the Akron Open, took home the title in impressive fashion. Matt continued his championship court appearances, this time repeating his Consolation finalist status from 2011!

Michael bested the field en route to a historical run in which he became the first 3.0 player in tournament history to pull off what historians have later called "The Akron Dub" as he won both the singles AND the doubles championship, a feat never before accomplished! 8-4 all time in tournament singles play at the 3.0 level, Michael moved on to much 3.5 success the next season. Matt, meanwhile, made the first of what would be many of his trips to the championship courts as he took Consolation Championship Runner-up status.

Notes: Bob, a 2007 Akron Open finalist, won his first title with a fantastic tournament run, not dropping a set the entire event! 10-6 all time in 3.0 tournament play, Bob soon relocated to the more tennis friendly environment of the greater Florida area, but not before his name would be engraved upon the yet-to-be-made trophy that boasts all the names of all the Akron Open champions! Timothy continued his championship court visits, making his record third championship appearance while the event saw the first tournament for Matt, who would later go on to set several tournament 3.0 records.

Notes: A heretofore record number of entries, John Turley would once again not be denied as he once again made a championship appearance, this time earning an impressive runner-up status, and this time with yet another partner, showing that those who believe that he is one of the greatest 3.0 doubles players of all-time are ... correct!
Participants: O'Connell/To 1-1, Benedict/Stein 0-2, Bach/Lembright 0-2
Year: 2008
Singles Champion: Yong-Cheol Kang d Edward Raffel 6-1,6-0 ... 4-0, 3-1 Consolation Champion: Mike Woods d Timothy Benedict 6-0,6-0 ... 3-1, 2-2 Entries: 14
Notes: A record number of heretofore entries (14), Yong-Cheol swept through the largest bracket heretofore (such a nice word) en route to his first ever title, dropping nary a set. Indeed, the next season, he then won the 3.5 bracket, ending his tournament career a perfect 8-0 with two Akron Open titles before no doubt retiring to an isolated Pacific island thanks to all his Akron Open winnings! In the consolation bracket, Timothy made his first of many appearances in the event, and his first of many appearances on the championship courts. Heretofore. Just because.

Singles Champion: Chuck Bishop d Bob Shearer 6-0, 6-4...3-0,3-1 Consolation Champion: William Baxter d James McKeen 6-2,6-1 ... 3-1, 1-2 Entries: 12
Notes: Chuck avenged his 2005 Consolation finals loss with a Championship round victory that would be just the start of a fantastic - and historic! - 2007 season in which he also won the Paramount Fall and Winter Championships, the only 3.0 player ever to win THE TRIPLE - winning all three Majors*! Now residing in California, he was soon bumped to 3.5, and Chuck's all-time tournament record stands at 21-25 and an impressive 12-6 at the even more impressive 3.0 level. William, meanwhile, would win the first of his two Consolation titles, his second coming in 2009, making him one of the few 3.0 stars to hold not one but two Consolation titles!

Notes: After making the Quarterfinals the previous year, James went all the way this tournament, besting two future Akron Open champions (Shearer, O'Connell) along the way! Wow, what a gamut! Bumped to 3.5 the next season, James took home the Consolation Championship at the Paramount Spring Classic the next year and enjoys a current overall tournament record of 13-13. Tim would also make the 3.5 jump and enjoy several 3.5 titles in his future as well.

Notes: The first ever Akron Open saw Barret take his first ever title in his first ever attempt. Indeed, according to USTA records, Barret soon retired from the sport ala John Elway, walking away with a title and with a perfect record in his last event ever (which ironically was also his first event ever). Similarly, Corey, in the Consolation match, would walk away with the title but would also soon hang up his tennis tournament shoes, participating one more time in '07 before heading to the tennis tournament sunset.
