Bay 2022 Season in Review!

What a season!

Both Captain Mark and Captain Erik's squads saw improvement from 2021, as Captain Mark's 18+ side moved up from 3rd place to 2nd in their Flight, not getting knocked out of Flight contention until the final matchday, a tight 2-3 loss at home under the bright home lights of Bradley Court to eventual Flight Champion and neighborly rival Paramount Westlake. Captain Erik's 40+ crew, meanwhile, TRIPLED their team wins compared to the previous season, finishing 9th for the second season in a row, but finishing in the top 27% of the league this time around compared to 2021's, well, 0%. In doing so, several records were made or broken! Let's check them out ... TOGETHER!

Player Reviews

Captain Mark ... extended his Captaining record to an 8th season and his total Captaining win total to 25, he's the winningest Captain in Bay 3.0 history! Not only that, he's moved up a number of the Bay record boards, and thanks to his six wins and 17 total matches, he now ranks 1st in matches played (93), doubles wins (24), and tie-breaking wins (9) while being t2 for overall wins (26)!

Captain Erik ... enjoyed his best Captaining season to date, and with his 3-7 season mark, he now ranks #2 all-3.0-time in total Captain wins (6)! On the court, Erik's fantastic 7-7 season means he ended 2022 not only in the 20+ career 3.0 win category, but also on a number of record boards, including t2nd for all-3.0-time wins 926), 3rd in matches played (66), 4th in singles wins (8), and 4th in doubles wins (18). And to cap it all off and show just how clutch he really is, he's now #1 (with teammate Mark!) in terms of tie-breaking wins (9)!

Donn ... may not have played a single (or double) match for the guys, but thanks to his signing up, the team was able to play. Huzzah for participation!

Charlie ... the wisened veteran he is, enjoyed one of the best seasons of his veteran career, going 8-5 for both Mark and Erik's team, exclusively exhibiting his 3.0 skills on the court o' doubles all season long. Now with double-digit career 3.0 wins, Charlie enters 2023 as one of the most veteran players on the squad, 5th all-3.0-time in matches played (48) while, not surprisingly, ranking in the top five in terms of doubles wins as well (15!)

Michael ... played the most matches of his career, earning double digits wins for his 3.0 career! Now ranking 4th all-3.0-time when it comes to getting on the court (57), he's also quite versatile on it, playing both singles and doubles, maintaining his top five ranking in singles wins (8)!

Brian ... is as versatile as they come as well, whether playing singles, doubles, or, in some cases, triples as he lugs his famous cooler around to help friend and foe alike with their hydration needs! Enjoying a winning 7-6 season, Brian cracked the 20+ win mark and added to his already illustrious Bay records, and is now 4th in all-3.0-time wins (23), 2nd in doubles wins (22), and in one of his fortes, t2nd in tie-breaking wins (8)!

Kuldeep ... returned from injury to be one of the top singles players around, earning the second most singles wins on the season en route to a winning 3-2 overall mark ... with some other wins actually coming against the Bay team as he moved back and forth from Bradley Courts to the pristine courts of Force!

Greg ... went two-for-two when it comes to wins in seasons played, adding to his career mark with another win this season, this time around in singles!

Nathan, the 2022 Akron Open Vice-Champion!

Nathan ... dominated the singles courts, earning some of the most singles wins in all-3.0-time, as his 6-1 solo record in only his second season with Bay puts him t2nd all-3.0-time (9)! Not only that, but Nathan added to his career totals with a Vice-Championship finish at hte 2022 Akron Open!

Patrick ... will always remember 2022 as the season he notched his first ever career 3.0 victory, a come-from-behind three set super tie-break doubles victory made all the more special as it was on the vaunted home Bradley Courts!

Tom ... continued his veteran service to his Bay comrades with another fine season, going 4-7 while playing doubles, giving him double-digits career wins with his best single season showing ever!

Tony ... wasn't able to get on the court as much as in years past, but still enjoyed a win to keep his year by year win streak going!

Andrew, Justin, Steve, and Tom ... were all rookies who all enjoyed fine opening seasons as the 3.0 level! Andrew and Justin won on both the singles and doubles courts, Steve played the most matches, and Tom enjoyed the most doubles wins. What a great crop of future talent Captain Mark and Captain Erik have to choose from!

De Fault ... playing eight matches on the season, the famed Frenchman did his best but was still unable to get on the winning side. However, his efforts cannot be ignored, and over his career, his 31 attempts is no doubt a lesson to us all to never give up!

Player of the Year ... thanks to Charlie's team leading eight wins in 13 tries, Charlie ends 2022 as one of the most respected men

Singles Player of the Year ... with one of the best singles records on any team, let alone, Bay's, Nathan takes home this solo award ... to the thunderous applause of his thankful Bay teammates!

Captain of the Year ... Mark's runner-up finish in the Flight and his second straight 4-4 season earns him yet another piece of Bay hardware for his Bay trophy case!

Rookie of the Year ... in a crowded and talented field, multi-talented and multi-court-playing Andrew won the day, thanks to his winning marks in both singles and doubles!

Comeback Player of the Year ... Kuldeep literally came back to win this award, coming back from a debilitating injury to end 2022 as one of the top players around, so good, he's now a 3.5er!
