2022 Towpath 3.0 Doubles Tournament!

Updated: Feb 23, 2023

It's been a busy winter for all the 3.0 greats far and wide, the winter is just about to get that much busier as the fourth event in less than three months is about to take place in the historic courts of Akron's Towpath Tennis Center!

Format

A round-robin, all four teams will face off against one another in a one-day showdown of intense tennis action!

Players

Timothy Booher & Matthew Johnston

Record - 3-4

Notes - One of the more experienced tandems of the event, Timothy and Matthew are fresh off their Vice-Championship finish at the recent Midwest NTRP Doubles championships! Not only that, but both hail from the same tennis dojo and have been taught by the same tennis sensei, the Benjamin Young! Add it all up and these two North Canton tennis warriors look to be the class of Towpath!

Kevin Dietrich & Sean Schulze

Record - 0-0

Notes - The newest tandem in the event in terms of overall experience, they bring a young and virile approach that will no doubt enthuse the tournament with young-kid wonder! But be on guard, Sean has paired with one of the winningest 3.0ers around, Robert Rosenau, and has played Timothy before, meaning he may have the insider knowledge necessary to score a major 3.0 upset in a major 3.0 tournament!

Kurt Gamby & Greyson Morrow

Record - 0-0

Notes - They don't exist! Neither the USTA website nor TennisRecord.com has record of them ... meaning they immediately are tournament favorites!

Skhil Suravajhala & Denis Zaharija

Record - 0-0

Notes - While both players are relative newbies to the 3.0 scene, both have winning records in all doubles matches and both have played high-level doubles as well. And while this is their first tag-team together, look for that experience to pay dividends this event!

Preditictions

While Timothy and Matthew have recent success on their side, Skhil and Denis have vast amounts of experience to rely on, meaning these two doubles tandems look to be tough to beat come tournament time. That being said, it would be amiss to miss out on the unknown quality of Kurt and Greyson or the knowledge of Kevin and Sean. WHAT A TOURNEY!

Good luck to all this weekend!
