3.0 STAT FAQ

All the information you needed to know on how we compile our 3.0 stats and why most our 3.0 stats are most likely incorrect, erroneous, and just plain wrong.

OVER THE YEARS PEOPLE HAVE ASKED US, "HOW IS IT THAT YOU COMPILE YOUR ALMOST OBSESSIVELY OVER-THE-TOP AND SLIGHTLY CREEPY STATISTICS?"  AND THEN BEFORE WE ARE ABLE TO ANSWER THEIR QUESTION THEY THEN IMMEDIATELY ASK, "AND HOW COME THEY'RE USUALLY ALWAYS WRONG?"  WELL, FIRST, THAT'S HURTFUL.  BUT SECOND, LET US USE THIS FORUM - IN OUR OWN WORDS AND WITHOUT FEAR OF UNCOMFORTABLE FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS - TO ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU HAVE THAT WE ARE ACTUALLY ABLE TO ANSWER.

So ... read below.  It's our attempt to rationalize why you're upset about why we didn't count a win that we probably should have!

WHAT COUNTS AS A 3.0 STATISTIC?

Any 3.0 match.

This is easy.

WHAT MATCHES COUNT TOWARD 3.0 STATISTICS?

Any 3.0 U.S.T.A. league, playoff, or tournament play that can be found via the U.S.T.A. website (found here or here).  Basically, if you've ever played a U.S.T.A. league or tournament, those are the records we try to record.

If it's not found THERE then we here at D.F.O. don't trust it, don't count it, and, if given the chance, will be nice to it in front of it's face but behind it's back we will talk really, really, really meanly about it.

WHAT ABOUT 2.5 OR 3.5 MATCHES?  DO THOSE COUNT?

First off, if you find a 2.5 league, please let us know and we will sign up as soon as humanly possible.

Second, no, it has to be 3.0.  Sorry, Charlie.

WHAT IF I'M A 3.0 AND I PLAY IN 3.5?

Darn it, NO!  This is only 3.0!  Only 3.0 records count!

WHAT IF I'M A 3.0, PLAY IN A 3.5 OR A 6.5 OR A 7.5 LEAGUE, AND I PLAY AGAINST ANOTHER 3.0ER WHO HAPPENS TO BE IN THE SAME LEAGUE?  DOES THAT COUNT?

NO!

Actually, that's a great question, but sadly, no.  One, it's too hard for us to keep up on all of that (we can barely count as it is; more on that later).  Two, kudos to you and your opponent for playing up a level; honestly, that's pretty cool and you should be applauded for that.  Sadly, that applause won't get you more 3.0 matches in terms of your 3.0 stats on this website.  But maybe it'll get you a hearty handshake of respect?  And that's ... something?

WHAT ABOUT 6.0 DOUBLES?

Yes.

And no.

Did that clarify it for you?

Yes - if it's a men's 55+ 6.0 league, first off, hot dog, you go!  That's awesome!  But yes, those records ARE counted.

No - if it's mixed doubles of any kind, that's not counted.  In this day and age, perhaps that's frowned upon, but we here are D.F.O. are simple folk and try to keep things as simple as possible ... we focus on 3.0 18+, 3.0 40+, and 6.0 55+ ... that's pretty much our wheel-house.

ARE YOUR NUMBERS ACCURATE?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

No.

Maybe?

Kinda?

We TRY to be accurate.  We really do.  But as much as we love the U.S.T.A., well, the website is cumbersome.  Then add in our counting ability and oy vey, it's a bad, bad recipe.

This website is, let's face it, moronic.  But we attempt to be as accurate as possible when it comes to numbers (if not stories).  But we make mistakes.  Lots of them.

WHAT IF I NOTICE A MISTAKE?

Let us know!  If there's one thing this website should prove, we don't mind going down the rabbit-hole to deep-dive into numbers.  So if you think we've made a mistake for a loved one, or a 3.0 fan of yours (hmmm?), or, let's be honest, YOURSELF (it's all good, we love some "me" as much as anyone else!), let us know and we'll dive right back into the data and try to remedy any mistakes we may have made!

YOU HAVE ANSWERED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY QUESTIONS AND NOT ONLY DO I RESPECT YOU AS AN ORGANIZATION, BUT AS A PERSON, AND IN MY OPINION YOU ARE DOING THE MOST IMPORTANT WORK THIS NATION NEEDS TO BE DONE AT THIS VERY MOMENT IN TIME IN OUR NATION'S HISTORY, NO HYPERBOLE AT ALL.

I mean, right?
